Scottie Scheffler starts a new season looking like nothing has changed. He wins his PGA Tour opener
LA QUINTA, Calif. (AP) — New year, same Scottie Scheffler. The world's No. 1 player loves coming to the California desert early in the season to take stock of his game and get into tournament shape. There's wasn't much wrong Sunday in The American Express.
A 3-second delay had announcers Bob Papa and Paul Azinger and on-site reporter John Cook stepping over each other: “It made us look kind of stupid.”
Scottie Scheffler started his season as though nothing had changed, running off four birdies in a six-hole stretch Sunday to blow past 18-year-old Blades Brown and the rest of the field. He closed with a 6-under 66 for a four-shot victory in The American Express.

Koepka's return opens the door for others to follow. And if those big names also decide to make the leap back to the PGA Tour, it could signal the beginning of the end for LIV Golf, even though the league has been positioning itself to be a player in the golf ecosystem for years to come.
The PGA Tour just dropped a video building the anticipation for an exciting season ahead. While one tournament has already been completed, the 2026 American Express is the first tournament that will feature some of the biggest names.
